Introduction to Magnetic Filter

What is a magnetic filter?

A magnetic filter is a filtration and sorting device that utilizes magnetism to absorb fine ferrous impurities from fluids and semi-fluids.

Magnetic filters typically include tube magnets, magnetic grids, magnetic drawers and other filtration devices.

These filters are perfect for removing particles, ferrous impurities, and more from products.

How do magnetic filters work?

Magnetic filtration is used in conjunction with high strength filter magnets. The filters are placed at strategic locations in the path of the liquid or slurry flow.

The slurry or liquid is directed around the magnetic field created by the high intensity filter magnet to capture any ferrous particles in the magnetic trap.

Thereafter, the filter is removed and the captured particles are rinsed away so that the filter can be reused. Magnetic filters function primarily by capturing weakly magnetic ferrous contaminants (e.g., rust, iron filings, oxides, and other ferromagnetic impurities in liquids, slurry streams, powders, gases, etc.).

A common form of magnetic filter is the magnetic plug, which is ideal for quick flushing. They also come in the form of magnetic filters in a flow-through configuration.

Another common magnetic filter configuration is the bar magnet; it will extend into tanks and filtration canisters to remove metal particles.

What are some applications for magnetic filters?

The permanent magnets used in magnetic filters help remove magnetic contaminants from liquid slurries.

Typically, filters help remove and recycle magnetic materials in food, beverage, pharmaceutical, ceramic, machinery, steel, tobacco, automotive coatings, water treatment, chemical, pigment, dye and other industries.

What are the benefits of magnetic filtration?

In general, magnetic filtration is considered environmentally friendly, cost-effective and efficient for a wide range of industrial processes involving the removal of ferrous particles from critical fluids.

Magnetic filters are not only very efficient and reliable, they are also environmentally friendly and help to remove industrial contaminants from manufacturing systems without polluting the environment.

The contaminants generated are collected in magnetic traps and can be easily recycled as a single material. This also eliminates the need to use landfills to dispose of accumulated waste.

Ideally, you do not need to use any additional filtration systems or equipment when the filter magnet is finally installed. On top of that, no other costs will be incurred over the life of the filter.

In addition, the collected contaminants are completely recyclable. In addition, using magnetic filters means that your running costs are extremely low.

You can use either manually cleaned filters or self-cleaning filters.

Summary

In conclusion, many manufacturing processes are only complete when impurities are removed from the final product.

Essentially, the removal of contaminants or impurities from the media is necessary to ensure the quality of the products produced by such processes.

Overall, magnetic filtration is a versatile filtration system that can be used to remove ferrous impurities.
