Permanent Magnet Applications in Electric Vehicles

Electric Motors:
These magnets are essential to the operation of high-performance electric motors in electric vehicles (EVs), providing better torque and efficiency. Magnets in electric motors offer high power density, allowing for compact and lightweight designs without compromising performance.
ABS Sensors:
Magnets used in anti-lock braking system (ABS) sensors help monitor wheel speed by generating a voltage as the ABS reluctor ring rotates, thereby improving vehicle safety and functionality. The interaction of the rotating reluctor ring and the stationary sensor with the magnets produces a variable voltage corresponding to the wheel speed, which is transmitted to the ABS.
Automotive Components:
Permanent magnetic devices in automobiles include motors for wipers, fuel pumps, windows, and door locks, providing quiet, efficient operation.

The main role of the permanent magnets in a PMSM is to generate a magnetic field that interacts with the stator windings, thereby converting electrical energy into mechanical energy.
